Schreiner University kicked off its Employee Wellness Program on Thursday, June 3, 2004
The Wellness Program will offer weekly education
seminars (known as Wellness Talks on Tuesdays) and a Get Fit Benefit. Get
Fit will provide employees the benefit of two paid hours per week to
exercise on campus. The program is 100% voluntary. There will be
opportunities for employees to exercise individually and/or as a group.
This program is for all employees whether you already exercise or you
haven't exercised in years, there will be something available for all.
To help kick off the program, Thursday, June 3rd was also SU Tennis
Shoes Day. Many employees wore their tennis shoes,
sneakers, work-out shoes, etc. to work and got
creative and decorated them. A Tennis Shoe Contest was held during
the 9:30 am informational session. Prizes were given for most
creative shoe decoration, best shoes with a theme, funniest shoes and
loudest (sound or look) shoes.
This is an exciting program with great opportunities for us all to get
fit (even if it is just a little bit, every little bit helps) and learn
more about having a healthy lifestyle.
