EXERCISE IS COOL |
|
Exciting News!
Exercise and fitness are essential
to help maintain healthy bodies and minds.
Everyone can benefit from exercise, regardless
of age or gender.
Exercise Builds All the
Muscles in Your Body,
especially the heart muscle
so that it can do a lot
of pumping...each and
every day of your life. It
relies on you to do aerobic
exercise to strengthen
it. As you exercise you
become more flexible,
support a healthy weight,
and can do more active
things for longer periods of time. Strong muscles
help protect you from injuries and give better
support to your joints.
Exercise Keeps You Flexible. Exercise increases
flexibility, so that you can bend, stoop
and stretch without too much difficulty.
Many
activities and recreations increase flexibility:
tumbling, dancing, karate, yoga, even the new
trend of Desk Aerobics.
Being Healthy is Happy! When you exercise,
your body releases endorphins, the chemicals
that create a feeling of happiness. Exercise and
activity can make you feel better about yourself.

FITNESS
IS FUN! |
|
Exercise may be done individually or in groups.
Employees have volunteered to lead
several
groups or teams for various activities for you to enjoy.
If you are a beginner, you may prefer the Walk-about
Group. Want to do it faster? Try the Jogging team.

Prefer wheels? There is a Cycling team that can help.
Need a refreshing dip in the pool? Join the Swimming
team. Even if you have not exercised in years (or
never) you can get started with the Desk Aerobics
team. Something for everyone… maybe you’d like to
start a Hula-hoop team. Volunteers are always welcome.
Employees can exercise individually or join a team.

IMPROVE
YOUR HEALTH |
|
So you are not an Olympic champion? Never been to
the gym in your life? Don’t look like Venus or
Adonis? Great. Level of current fitness and age don’t
matter. Just choose an activity you enjoy and begin
gently. Stretching is just as important as the exercise
itself.
Remember, exercise improves your health by:
- Increasing muscle strength and flexibility
- Lowering cholesterol levels
- Increasing heart and lung efficiency
- Reducing blood pressure
